The young master

After looking as if it would be a cloudy day, we were once again blessed with an almost cloudless sky and high (for us) temperatures. The tide was starting to come in when I went down the cliff path to the beach with two energetic boys ahead of me.

There was a great expanse of sand, with some rocks in the shallows. However, after about 30 years of coming to this beach with our children, by ourselves and now with grandchildren, I have a clear idea of where to enter the water to minimise stubbing the toes. There was a moderate wind blowing up reasonable size waves for boys of 8 and 5. The water was blissfully warm.

We started off with the boys using their boogie boards, learning how to tell which waves to start on, and how to keep going. It was hard to get the focus right for one of them, and I didn't manage it for both in the one shot.

Then there was the kite, provided by J. Young L took an early turn, and from the start he was adept at keeping it up, making it duck and dive, and crossing from side to side. This picture shows him in complete control of the kite, visible as if a blob of red ink against the blue sky.

Well worth viewing large.
