Lozarhythm Of The Day:
B Bumble and the Stingers - Apple Knocker (1962)
After the big success of Nut Rocker,  a rocked up adaption of the Nutcracker Suite, B Bumble made less headway with the follow-up, this time an arrangement of the William Tell Overture called Apple Knocker, and B Bumble's short gimmicky life was soon to be over.
Originally B Bumble was Ernie Freeman, hired by Kim Fowley to play a version of The Flight Of The Bumble Bee (hence the name of the band) entitled Bumble Boogie. He wasn't available when Nut Rocker was recorded so a pianist named Ali Hazan took his place, and on the tour that followed the success of Nut Rocker RC Gamble was B Bumble, although Ali Hazan played some dates too. Both Gamble and Hazan are on Apple Knocker but who knows who plays what? The guitarist was Lou Josie.
In the UK this single, recorded for Rendesvous Records in Hollywood,  was on the new Stateside label, and is included on an album I played on this day, Twist And Shout - The Stateside Story 1962.
