The First Light?

The title refers to this blip, that I feared was the last shot of the [until then] trusty Sony DSLR.  As it happened, it has struggled on erratically but its imminent demise set the family, specifically M, on a plan to equip me with a new camera for my <mumble>th birthday.

The last few weeks has seen an occasional dialogue between me and M, establishing what I wanted (and didn't want) out of a camera.  Unexpectedly, my explorations drifted towards a more compact 'DSLR', and the family presented me this evening with an Olympus OMD M-5ii with a couple of lenses.

Ooo... so many options.  Hmm, let's try Auto for now.

The family has gathered this evening together with friends of many years standing.  C has provided the most awesome boardgame-themed cakes. A few gifts, some big, some small, that were all just absolutely spot-on.  

It's going to be a good weekend.
