Nostalgia

Don't worry if you can't read the detail... this is a receipt from the Writers Bar in Raffles Hotel, Singapore, for two Singapore Slings in August 1994. (This is where the drink was invented, a wonderful end-of-Empire ambience). Suffice to say, it was probably the most expensive single drink I have ever ordered (thank god I was sitting down when they brought the bill..!). For the price I could have bought a bottle of gin and all other ingredients - including the glasses - in the local market! Now it is framed and hangs in our study as a reminder...
