Bitter-sweet
Today we said goodbye to an old friend, who died suddenly a few weeks ago. He was a kind, funny and unassuming man, who was held in great affection as evidenced by the turnout for his funeral. His family, who lived in different parts of the country, were astonished by the number of people there, as they had no idea how loved he was by everyone who knew him here in Sheffield.
One of the features of a funeral like this is that it brings together old friends who haven't seen each other for some time and give them a chance not only to share happy memories but to catch up.
I'm blipping one of our garden goldfinches, taken before we went out. The flock are still around and costing us a small fortune in bird food.
