Still autumn day

All was still and autumnal on my walk into work this morning. In some respects I wish that I had stayed on the Links until home time. This is because it's been a really tough day, both personally and work-wise. Laura and I sneaked in a mid-week drink and shared our woes at Café Grande after the last meeting on campus.

When I eventually returned home I found a letter which informs me that I have been awarded a back-dated pay rise. This is the happy result of a benchmarking exercise, rather than because I made an application for a higher salary. It's nice to be appreciated.

Exercise today: walking (14,226 steps).
