Watery sun and lurking mists
When I left Edinburgh this morning it was a dampish 3' and as I drove home the temperature fell to just 1', although the sun was making a valiant effort to warm things up. En route I was struck by this view across the glen and managed to find a convenient lay-by so I could pause to enjoy it and, more importantly, get the camera out. We are looking towards Glen Eagles (Gleann Eagas) where it connects with Glen Devon to form a pass through the Ochil hills of Perth and Kinross. The name does not refer to eagles at all but rather to eaglais meaning church and refers to a chapel and well which has been restored as a memorial to the family which owns the Gleneagles estate. I am sure you are more familiar with the glen for its famous Gleneagles Hotel, the venue for the G8 conference in 2005, and a prestigious and very scenic golf course.
