Prestwick - traditional seaside street
Prestwick on the Clyde coast is geographically split into two main areas by the Main Street running parallel to the railway line. This view is typical of the domestic architecture that runs from the railway down to the sea. Note the neat little gardens with no drives or garages - built before the age of the car. This is a favourite retirement location with its flat terrain and long promenade with great sunsets and views over to the Isle of Arran (which I'll be visiting this weekend). This was taken from the train during a blink of sunshine. Prestwick's name comes from the Old English for 'priest's farm'.
