York - Shambles
A nice English Breakfast while we sailed into the harbour of Hull was what started our day in the UK.
After breakfast we went by a luxury coach to York where we were dropped off around 10.30 hours.
We then had the time for ourselves until 16.00 hours. First we had a nice cappucino/tea/chocolate somewhere in the Shambles area.
After that we walked to the Minster area. We didn't visite the insides of the Minster. Reason for that was the high entrance fee. GPB 11,50 per person was too much to pay to get into a church.
So, back to the shambles. We soon discovered the Shop That Must Not Be Named. We're all Harry Potter fans, so we had a nice time in that shop. Especially the empty hook with the price tag GBP 59,99 for the invisibility cloak made us laugh.
Bas bought a wand as a souvenir, Annemarie bought Dobby the house elf as a souvenir. Later, in another store Daan bought an English telephone booth shaped cases for his phone. By then everybody had a souvenir, but me.
I found mine in the Waterstones book store. I bought the book Tall Tales and Wee Stories by Billy Connolly. Should be fun to read.
We also visited the York Castle Museum.
Time flew by and before we knew it it was time to go back to the pick up point. The coach came exactly on time and drove us back to Hull in a bit over 2 hours. It took a bit longer because of some traffic jams caused by accidents.
Around 19.00 we were back in the dining room on deck 8.
In the evening Bas and Daan watched another football match. Barcelona - Prague I believe.
We all went to bed around 23.30.
Tomorrow we'll be back in The Netherlands again.
This trip is too short, but it has been a well spent day!
