Grave conversation

We took all four of our grandchildren into Edinburgh city centre today. I was collecting my wonderful tweed jacket birthday present (the sleeves were too long) and then, I said, we’d find somewhere for lunch.

All this was accomplished - the bus came after five minutes, we walked up the Mound from Princes Street, no-one knocked anything over in the (cramped) tweed shop. Lunch was #1 grandson’s idea - an Italian place where your food is cooked in front of you - and very successful. This photo was taken on a post-prandial spot of tourism, in the historic graveyard of Greyfriars Kirk, where you can see the two younger children, Anna and James, deep in conversation. I haven’t the least idea what they were discussing - was it mortality?

We were briefly soaked by an unexpected shower, and ended up on a mystery tour when the bus that seemed to have its destination near the girls’ house made a huge detour to the east, but the children talked incessantly with much hilarity and Mr PB fell asleep.

Knackering but successful, id say - they’re a great bunch.
