Spectacularly WET in London today! We fought the urge to stay in Sarah's nice dry room and read..and instead we travelled into town for a free lunchtime recital at St Pancras Church. The pianist was Julian Chan, who is only 19 but played Beethoven's Sonata in C Op2 No3 and the Overture to Tannhäuser so beautifully that it brought tears to my eyes.
We walked in heavy rain and through deep puddles to Camden Town to a place I've always wanted to visit - the Fields Beneath vegan cafe. The original is in Kentish Town and its named after a Book by Gillian Tindall which explores the development of Kentish Town from the river, fields and hedgerows, patterns of which can still be seen in its layout today.
I didn't want to return via Euston as the Tube station had been full of police looking intimidating, so we returned on an overground train which took a circuitous route out west to Willesden and then back east to Clapham Junction. It took ages but that was good because we read lots of our books.
Dinner was a vegan lasagne which we had cooked earlier :-)
Home tomorrow.....
