Deer and Magpie
It was a special Bird Walk today on Brownsea Island . Unfortunately the weather was extremely wet so the day got off to an inauspicious start when we missed the 11:30 ferry to Brownsea ( they were only running on the hour ) . We ate our sandwiches on the ferry as we approached the island . I hadn’t been for years so I was looking forward to it . We met Bob the Birder and discovered we were the only customers for the walk ! Mad fools that we are as it poured down but actually we had a lovely 3 mile walk around the island . Lots of funghi but very few birds unless you went in the Dorset Wildlife reserve . I was disappointed to kiss the red squirrel which crossed our path whilst I was looking at a notice !!! :)
The magpie must have been picking insects off the deer which was very unconcerned by our prescence .
