Dipavali

Today, I went to Dipavali (Divali) which is the Hindu festival of light and is celebrated by the large Indian population on the island. It was incredible and featured drummers, dancers, lights and floats such as the one in the photo. It was followed by a concert and the longest firework display I've ever seen in my life. I also ate some sweet chicken which was incredible, and a whole pineapple (minus the skin). 

In other news, the volcano is erupting! (for the 5th time this year!) I haven't been able to get down to the south of the island to see it yet but I hope to do so soon!
