Underground: Past and Present

Today is the 115th birthday of the New York City subway system, and it definitely looks its age. In contrast, the Stockholm subway stations look like something designed by a utopian futurist (see extra, taken on my last visit there). But the point is, both systems work, efficiently moving large numbers of people every day. A city without subways is not, to my mind, a real city.
