A day of contrasts
The first day of GMT - all the world it seemed was rejoicing in a long lie courtesy of the extra hour. Not my family. All the extra hour did was make going out at 8am feel relatively normal as we headed out into a perfect and perishing morning to get to the first of two football matches. Despite hot coffee and bacon rolls (thanks, Mary) it was easy to feel I’d never be warm again. We saw both chaps acquit themselves well, and then went our separate ways to warm up.
After some food, we headed out again, just making it to St Mary’s Cathedral in time for Evensong. It turned out to be a festive occasion, celebrating the Friends of the Cathedral and creating three canons. There was quite a crowd and some good music. By the time we’d walked home, it was almost dark.
We walked almost six miles doing all this. I’m off to have a glass of wine and then a curry. Reckon we’ve earned it ...
