Tuccanon River
Because it was such a beautiful day, Jeannie and I drove up to the Tuccanon Lakes today to see how the fishing was since the lakes opened for fishing last weekend. We didn't actually fish we just drove up to get a blip and get out of town. Two of the lakes were open but Rainbow Lake was still frozen. These are man made lakes fed by the Tuccanon River with a fish hatchery also on the river. Each year the fish department plants the lakes with rainbow trout, and there are a lot of people who go to these lakes, since they are among the first to open. Not to mention all the planted fish, which means lots of fish are caught.
I had a couple of pictures of the lakes, but then I started looking at the hills and the trees that were no longer in these mountains because of the Columbia Complex Fire (the official name) which burnt some 93,000 acres between August 21, 2006 and Oct of 2006.
Fortunately the fire didn't burn the trees in this part of the valley.
This picture shows the Tuccanon River flowing among the trees(it really is in there) and the hills in the distance are what was part of this huge fire.
