To the woods . . .

This morning I decided to explore Yewbarrow Woods in Grange.  The woods have a 'forbidden forest' type of feel to them as the path passes under overhanging limestone rockfaces and is very overgrown with copious moss as in the picture.  There were many fallen trees of which some had on them jet black gelatinous fungus that my book suggests could be Bulgaria Inquinans aka 'Bachelor's Buttons'.  I eventually emerged on the far side of the woods and returned along the ridge via the Hampsfell Hospice.
