Pachamama monument
Pachamama (Mother Earth) or Mama Pacha is a totemic goddess of the Incas represented by the planet Earth, who were present at agricultural and livestock ceremonies in the Andean world.
The celebration of Mother Earth is an ancient ceremony, and within the Argentine northwest is the mythological belief of the Inca sphere that survives more strongly. The tradition is to feed the Pachamama, for which a well is made in the earth and different kinds of food and drinks are left in it. Celebrations are common throughout the month of August, especially the first day of the month. This is how on this day the community of San Francisco, Jujuy, gathered at the foot of the Pachamama Monument, made by the sculptor Cecilia Espinoza, to make her offerings to Mother Earth.
