Crescent
Bootham Crescent has been the home of York City since 1932, but they will soon be departing for a new out of town stadium. I took this opportunity for a second visit before it is bulldozed into football ground history.
York have been having a good start to the season and were sitting five points clear at the top of the National League North table at start of play. Boston United were the visitors. It proved to be quite an open and entertaining game, with York winning 2-1 to extend their lead at the top.
The club are hopeful that their new stadium will help propel them back to the Football League, but it will be difficult to recreate the atmosphere of a traditional ground like this. It seems likely that they will move mid-season so we’ll see what that does to their momentum.
