St Ninian's
I took advantage of a free day in my diary and the good weather to walk another part of the Fife Pilgrim Way.
I started by driving down to Cumbernauld, from where I caught a bus to Dunfermline. Another short bus journey took me to Kingseat, where I ended my walk last time around and which would be today's start-point.
My route took me down towards Loch Fitty, from where the sculpture in my main Blip came into view,.and then through an area which was formerly St Ninian's opencast coal mine, Keltyhill Wood and into the village of Kelty itself. Two bus journeys got me back to Cumbernauld and then home.
Some time ago there were ambitious plans to create a public sculpture park on the St Ninian's site, and work had even begun on this Fife Earth Project, but the owners went into administration and the site was abandoned. Some landscaping has since been carried out and the initial sculptures (see also the extra) remain in place, but there is little likelihood of the sculpture park ever coming to fruition. However, it did provide me with a little diversion (actual and metaphorical) on my walk today.
