Formby Beach
Backblip
Blew Xmas excesses away with a walk along the beach and back through the dunes and National Nature reserve. This is a wild piece of NW coastline but its accessibility to Southport and Liverpool makes it popular to the extent of being crowded a certain pinch points. My 3 happy wanderers provide a focal point to the picture. The contrast is really tweeked on the image. Interestingly we found a set of 5000 year old footprints in the hard mud that is sometimes exposed on the beach. The mouth of Ribble estuary used to be a marshy swampy environment and human hunter gatherer footprints can be occassionally found along with their quarry wild deer and auroch if you look hard enough .
