Melted frost on Mahonia

At least I'm told it's Mahonia, I wouldn't know.
Thwarted in my attempts to take snaps of the bird feeder without either freezing the bedroom with a wide open window or freezing to death lurking outside with the tripod, I was told,"go take pictures of that Mahonia, it's lovely".
Looked like small yellow buds to me, but who am I, --- I thought the water droplets looked prettier.
