Is It a Horse?

Stopped to chat to this friendly-looking equine. It doesn't look much like the other horses that live round here. I don't know anything about horses, but I wondered if it was maybe an ass or a mule. I  know it isn't a donkey. Google didn't help much, especially with 'ass' ...... I hastily closed that page.

It was a brief break from the labours in the sweatshop workroom. However, the quilting of the second-last unfinished project is well advanced, and the current one is advancing slowly, so I am feeling slightly more on top of things.
