S/he's Back!

Very excited to have spotted this hermit thrush out back when I was in the kitchen this afternoon. The picture is taken through a very dirty window, of course. Usually I don't catch sight of this winter resident until a lot later in the year - like when the weather gets bad and it wants to snack on sunflower seeds - so I'm delighted to know how early they actually arrive. I also saw my "first of season" junco this morning. So that means all my winter regulars are here now: white-throated sparrows have been here for several weeks; juncos probably for a few days but not seen by me until today; and who knows when this guy/gal arrived? Probably not very long ago.
