Scots invade Hadrian's Wall

An early start with the boys: cleaning out the wood-burning stove, picking out some logs and a chilly game of pooh-sticks to start the day.

After a lazy morning and huge breakfast, we head out to the Roman Army Museum. Before going in, we decide to walk up the hill to a section of Hadrian's Wall - but the biting wind at the top means it's just a short visit.

Later, we also invade a ruined castle for more swordplay and nonsense, before getting something to eat at the superbly-named Twice Brewed Inn.
