SUNDAY SINGING

We had a good morning at Church when Frank’s visual aid, as he preached the sermon, was a can of squirty shaving foam - but no-one in the congregation was covered - at least not in foam!

He was talking about God’s love and how it needs to fill every part of our lives and overflow to those around us wherever we go, so to show us what he meant, Nathan helped him by squirting the shaving foam into a glass.  Every time Nathan stopped because the glass was beginning to overflow, Frank encouraged him to keep going and to fill it more and more - so it was a good job there was a towel on the table - see extra shot - but we got the idea and Nathan did a great job.

After the service we had our usual tea, coffee and chat then I went over to see Mum because you may remember that she likes me to sit and watch “Songs of Praise” with her.  Fortunately, today there were quite a few songs she knew, so she was happy and it was interesting when her carer came partway through the programme that she said to her “This is my Church”.

I managed to get a shot of Mum singing, although at times her breathing is quite laboured and she is in some pain, but she did well today, even if she was almost a line ahead of Russell Watson as he sang “Abide With Me”, albeit very slowly, but I could tell she was enjoying it.  She didn’t know the version of "The Lord is My Shepherd" that Russell sang with Aled Jones, so I had to remind her that it was the theme tune for “The Vicar of Dibley” although she still said she didn’t know it - perhaps she was never a “Vicar” fan!

It’s another cold day today, but at least it’s not raining, for which we are very thankful, after yesterday’s constant rain.  We are warm and toasty indoors now that Mr. HCB has filled the bird feeders and I have swept up the hundreds of leaves that were swirling around our front drive but no doubt it will need doing again tomorrow and for the next few days, but we are grateful for a warm home and for the fact that we have plenty of food to eat.

Hope all of you who work are enjoying your Sunday and that it is a day of rest and relaxation for you - and remember this quote when you get up tomorrow morning:

“When you arise in the morning,
think of what a precious privilege it is
          to be alive -
to breathe, to think,
     to enjoy, to love -
          then make the day count!”
