Herbal medicines.

Our visit to Haworth yesterday included a tour of " The Old Apothecary"; this reminded me to clean some of the old medicine bottles which we have. This one, Tincture of Digitalis, is the herbal version of the modern medicine digoxin. Digoxin is still used in some cases of heart failure. Tinct. Digitalis was derived from the foxglove - I wonder who first discovered that foxglove stimulated the heart?
