Scrim on boards: glued & ready for gesso

Before I begin to paint, I spend hours preparing each board: sanded, sized, covered with fabric, then at least 20-30 coats of gesso. Which is then sanded back so that the surface is, I hope, perfectly smooth. However, that's only possible if the board & fabric are right. It all starts here.
