End of an Era for UK Photography

Jessops, the UK-wide camera shop, has brought the shutters down for the final time. The chain brought in the administrators earlier this week, and they decided that the stores were no longer viable; today was their last day of trading.

I visited Jessops a lot as a student, firstly to get prints and slides developed, then later to get the materials to do it myself in the college darkroom.

I haven't been much recently - I bought a small pair of binoculars there six years ago - and I guess that must have been a general problem, hence the sad news today.
