Buttering is a serious business!
A truly awful day but Eda did have a bit of a lie in not waking till 6.40 am so a goid start.
We had stories and put woodland stickers in her Look and See in the Countryside book and then after breakfast I tried to get her interested in helping me make cheese scones for lunch with homemade soup when Mummy and Daddy get back.
She wanted to help with the weighing but this consisted mainly of fiddling with the settings in the scales so not sure if the flour quantities were correct!
Thought she might like mixing and cutting but she just wanted to sit in her high chair and direct operations - extra telling granny where she needed to put more milk glaze!
By 10.00am when the scones were cooked I felt we needed to get out or it was going to be a morning of Gruffalo, Gruffalo’s Child, Room on the Broom etc on a loop! I mentioned going to a cafe and she was in the kitchen getting her coat and shoes in a flash. It’s quite funny really as she rarely eats much as here where she had asked for toast but really just wanted to butter it! The lady kindly brought her a plastic knife and some chocolate eyeballs. She’s not really into chocolate yet but she wanted to take off the foil and butter them too! I eventually gave her a rice cake to eat that we had taken with us and of course it got the butter treatment too - extra collage
Adjoining the cafe, The Potting Shed, at the garden centre is an ice cream parlour with a train going round and round. She loved the train relating it to Daddy who gets the train to work most days and to Mummy and Daddy coming back on a train today. I had intended going to see the animals again but she wanted more trains so we went back into the Christmas shop to see the illuminating tableaux as many of them have little trains going around and around. She was awestruck - extra collage
Back home for lunch and then Mummy and Daddy arrived having had a splendid time in their old university stomping ground.
They have now been on their way back for about two hours, so will be a around half way. Hope she has slept for them and they’ve had a good run, the weather now seems to be worse than ever.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon Eda and in the meantime having a rest!
