If You Fall Out With Your Sister
This is Mariakirken (St. Mary Church), one of the two 12th century Sister Churches built side by side at Granavollen 7 kilometres from our countryside cabin. According to local folklore, the two churches were commissioned by two sisters who had fallen out and therefore would not be seen in the same church.
Mariakirken is the smaller of the churches and was built sometime before 1150. It contains both Romanesque and Gothic elements and was captured in minus 11 degrees Celsius tonight as we struggled through the deep snow to find our cabin.
