Clarity

Really? Danger? Ice not safe? In the middle of March?

Darn...because I was going to ignore the large, ominously dark patches of ice and take a leisurely stroll across our frozen neighborhood pond to enjoy the blanket of fog...a thick pea soup that is turning the numerous shades of grey, taupe and mud into soft, pastel shades of grey, taupe and mud.

I'm so thankful the sign made me think twice. Doh...

Kidding aside...many people perish every year when they fall through thin ice because of sad miscalculation. People have a tendency to chalk the tragedies up to mere carelessness...I've been guilty of those thoughts too...careless humans...not enough signs...

In the end it doesn't matter why it happens, it is simply tragic and you would think that given the regularity with which it happens, that the danger is abundantly clear.

Clearly not.
