The Obelisk
Viewed across Cardiff Road, with Caerphilly Castle (South Wales, UK) in the background, the spike-like obelisk is about 42 feet high, in two distinct parts. Its base is honed yorkstone, a type of sandstone, (sedimentary rock). The upper half is a perforated stainless steel plate on a structural frame. Internal lights turn the obelisk into a beacon at night.
