Bikes in the car and out to Aberlady with My Pal for a couple of hours riding around East Lothian - thirty mile loop. Before meeting up with his well to-do in-laws for lunch at Gullane golf club. I was wearing jeans an' all, but I just about got away with it. First time I'd ever met this pair of wealthy octogenarians - my knowledge of the last tsar, the Romanov dynasty and haemophilia came in handy as an impressive conversation piece.
