Red brick road.
This is one of our many favourite walks close to us. It's a steep and good 'cardio' walk at the start and the views over the Vale of Aylesbury are well worth the huffing and puffing at the start! We walk this often but today was the first time the brick road was actually visible, testament to the quantity of rain that's fallen over the past few days. We don't know who built this brick road, but the history of the area is quite interesting. Briefly, during the second WW, the area was planted up for food crops, but nothing grew because of the shallow soil. It was then used as a rifle range and officers training area during the 1940's - 1970's. As I said, I have no idea about the history of this brick road, but it is very rustic and uneven to walk on. Chequers is just the other side of the hill.
Can't believe that the beautiful fresh morning turned out to be a grey, rainy miserable afternoon. Extra is the frost on our patio table this morning, I was intrigued by the patterns.
