For Freedom/Four Freedoms

Today was New Hampshire resident free admission day to the local Art museum.  There were a couple of exhibits I wanted to see and so Jon and I set off.  The first was the Freedom one - inspired by Franklin Roosevelt's movement to articulate the Four Freedoms; Freedom of Speech, from Want, of Religion and from Fear.  At the time the paintings were done by Norman Rockwell.  In 2016 a couple of contemporary artists got together to update the paintings and continue to celebrate the diversity that is America.  These are the updated ones and in Extra one of the originals.  The cool thing is that all across the country there are open forums, Town Meetings if you will,  that invite public participation.

"For Freedoms follows a long artistic tradition of using mass communication to stimulate political discourse. They believe that art plays an important role in moving our society towards a more representative and transparent government, using art to show that citizenship is deepened by participation." We're looking forward to going back on December 8th to take part in this.

The other exhibit (also in Extra) was one entitled Angels of Addiction - a local artist's paintings of a few of the very many young people lost to overdose in the last several years in this area.
