Happy 21st Birthday Hendrik

Anrie's brother turns 21 and we had a party on the farm tonight.

We had a great time, chatting and catching up with old friends and family. It was a total surprise for dear Hendrik, he had not the slightest suspision that a party was planned for him. He visited his cousin for the day who told him all sorts of nonsense about plans for the evening, which eventually 'didn't work out' and the cousin asked Hendrik's mom if it was okay if he come to the farm for a slaapover!! Hehehe!!

After the speeches, which turned out to be absolutely brilliantly hillarious, champagne was served in glasses marked '21' and then each guest chose their own combination of a wonderful variety of raw ingredients, packed out on the tables, and each fried his own 'Chinese Stir-fry' to perfection, which was then served on rice. A sure success recipe for any celebration, no one can complain the food wasn't to their tase, 'cause you prepared your own meal, added the sauces and spices of your choice and fried it as long as you preferred! Brilliant!! Luvvv'd it!

The evening was rounded off by sending up Chinese lanterns - Chinese lanterns are made out of a balsa wood or thin wire frame, a paper shell and a candle or burning device in the centre. The candle is lit allowing the generation of heat to send the lantern skyward where it floats through the sky (similar to a hot air balloon) until the candle burns out and the structure falls to the ground.

But then disaster struck! Oupa Bert, almost 79 and very frail, excitedly following the last lantern, fell and broke his leg, verrrry high, almost in the hip! His daughter (our school's principal) and her hubby followed the ambulance to Eugene Marais Hospital, with Ouma in the ambulance with Oupa! He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and will be operated tomorrow, a physician must see him first, for the heart's and if course the age's sake!!

Such an anticlimax to a wonderful evening!! Please pray for them!!
