My Grandfathers ‘Active Service Testament 1914’ with the message from Lord Roberts...along with his 1914 Star.

The message dated 25th Aug 1914, says:

“I ask you to put your trust in God. He will watch over you. You will find in this little Book guidance when you are in health, comfort when you are in sickness, and strength when you are in adversity.”

It’s a well worn little tome, so I think he’ll have carried it with him around the trenches for the full five years he served...sadly, as with so many who fought along side him, he carried the mental scars of what he’d seen for the rest of his life!
