Remembrance Sunday
Some of the villagers have made a good job of decorating the church and war memorial in the village with knitted poppies. In addition to the ones around the memorial and along the fence, there is a 'cascade' of poppies clinging to the stonework by the church door, and patches of both red and purple knitted poppies (the purple to remember the animals killed in wartime) planted in the ground on the walk from the lych gate to the door. Apparently there is a good display inside the church too, but I was a bit early to see that as the doors had not yet been unlocked.
