Everyday I Write The Book

Water

I thought this was a fly tipping incident then realised contractors had been dredging the canal; the water level was very low, they must have found it as they were working. I imagine they find all sorts of stuff over the years.

Living near a canal is always interesting in terms of wildlife, low life, plant life and (in winter) not much life at all. It reflects the seasons perfectly, like a mirror, particularly when (like us) you use a high bridge to cross it. When frozen it stares back at you like the entrance to a tomb, forbidding and cold.  In summer it is overgrown, lush, teeming. Late night revellers after drunken evenings will carouse or curse each other on the towpath, defending on their mood.

Yes I am feeling philosophical today... but there isn’t much else to say. Very full on day at work and very noisy as they were clearing up after a leaky roof incident. And I got rained on a bit. So it was a watery day and cold at that ...
