Sarah and Annie

My long time friend Sarah and I attended a funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church this morning. In this photo Sarah (in the wheelchair) is hugging her friend Annie. Father Jim Galluzzo officiated the Mass. He was my school Principal and friend during my early teaching years at St. Stephen Catholic School. He taught the faculty a method of using class meetings to foster classroom community and encourage children to be empowered and honest in their relationships with one another. This method became a key component of my classroom program in the public school where I taught for many years after I left St. Stephens. It was an honor to be in his company today.
