M40 Soldiers
If you drive south on the M40 approaching the Stokenchurch gap and look up to your right you will see the amazing sight of 101 silhouetted soldiers on the skyline with poppies below them.
Jane and I were intrigued by this sight yesterday and on our way back home today we did a detour to find them. Unfortunately only had my phone with me.
They are located in the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve and are a temporary art installation by Dan Barton to celebrate Remembrance Day.
We were in good company as a group of motorway traffic police rolled up just after us as they had seen them in their trips up and down the motorway and came up to see them close up.
Well worth a visit if you are passing but they are only there for another week. See http://www.m40soldiers.co.uk
Last night's framing meeting/dinner was good - especially because I won the raffle. The prize was two sheets of glass which may not sound exciting but it was expensive anti-reflective coated glass at £60 a sheet. No - I didn't have to carry it home with us, it's going to be delivered :-)
