White Ibis
A small (20 or so individuals) flock of these Ibis are permanent residents of our neighborhood. I like to think of them as 'living yard art' as they move from yard to yard searching for insects in the grass or ground cover. The darker colored one in the foreground is an immature. Sadly, some of my neighbors insist on having their lawns sprayed which I'm sure isn't healthful for these birds! Audubon reports that the Florida population of White Ibis is lower than historical levels and "has continued to decline in recent decades". :(
