Thursday: Calendula

Wind howling all night, kept waking me up.
Whilst speaking with my daughter on the phone, saw a black cap in the hawthorn - such a sweet little bird!
After reading this article on perennial vegetables in the Financial Times, 
https://www.ft.com/content/90154592-336e-11e9-9be1-7dc6e2dfa65e tasted a leaf of Red Valarian (Centranthus ruber) it was quite bitter but might be ok mixed with other leaves!
Today’s salad: pea shoots, baby rocket, baby kale “Red Russian” & baby chard “Bright Lights”.
