Flood
Yesterday I mentioned the rain; today we had a little rain this afternoon but nothing like as much. Regardless the River Avon is running pretty full and a yellow flood alert was raised for today.
We went into town late morning and had a drink in Pret prior to visiting the Picture House to see The Good Liar, an excellent film starring Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen, with Russell Tovey. This may be the last film we see at the Picture House in Stratford as it is due to close in January, to make way for a hotel, Travellodge as if we didn't have enough! It will be a real shame as it's a lovely cinema, we will still have the multiplex Everyman in Bell Court, but it won't be the same.
After the cinema, and lunch at Pret we walked down to the river to see the flood. They had obviously taken the flood alert seriously as most of Waterside was barricaded with flood defences and a whole bunch of yellow jacketed people were hanging around waiting to rescue anyone, or their pets, who needed rescuing.
As it was the river had not reached anywhere near Waterside yet, although it was over the banks on both sides. I went down to the edge to take some photos, the geese, gulls and two lads on bicycles seemed to be getting the most enjoyment from it!
