Hollywood Costumes

Took the children after school to the Victoria and Albert Museum to see the Hollywood Costumes Exhibition.

We all absolutely loved it; as well as having costumes from films they are familiar with like Indiana Jones, The Addams Family, Bond, Superman, Batman, Star Wars, The Artist, Spider-Man and loads more, the glamour of so many of the dresses from the golden age of Hollywood is such that they are a visual spectacle quite apart from any meaning they might have from growing up with the films like I did. Al was almost mesmerised by a beaded dress from The Bride Wore Red, worn by Joan Crawford. It was lit in such a way that it seemed to glow red, then green, then black. It must weigh about 15 pounds, and was stunning.

No photos allowed and too crowded to even try and sneak one!

There is so much to see by the time you get to the end, you might almost be exhausted, but the last exhibits are Dorothy's gingham dress and the Ruby Slippers, and they feel truly magical!
