Ups and downs

The day started almost good and ended less good.

7 am: I got the news, that T.'s beloved bus driver has probably a herniated disc.
11 am: I got my new license plates. It's as complicated as ever, but it finally worked. My new car will be called DI-NG (thing). By the way in the blip is the pressing machine for the license plates.
15 am : Dentist appointment with T. for control and dental care. A new therapist constantly goes beyond T.'s limits and she screams the whole dental practice together. During the check-up it turns out that she got five new caries holes in only 5 months. And that despite special toothpaste, new electric toothbrush and really a lot of effort with brushing. Pretty disappointing! The cost estimate for the repairs is horrendous.
5 pm: A call from my friend Anne in Spain. She is extremely ill and has had terrible months. It's not much more than crying together and sending her a virtual hug.
6 pm: Bad news from the north. Grandpa had broken his hip in a fall on Wednesday, just over 2 weeks after the 24/7 care was cancelled. Now he is very confused and rebellious. It is difficult to estimate where this is coming from. His final kidney failure? The pain medication? Another phase in the dying process?  An operation is not performed and after a night in hospital he returns home for 24/7 care. It is decided to put him into a deep sleep to calm him down. In consultation with the children it is decided not to wake him up and leave him in a final coma. J. is the only one, who has doubts about the motivation. We try to find an emergency possibility to organize a last visit at Grandpa. 1100km there and back. We talk, talk and talk. An unfortunate conversation with the family later J. decides. that we do not drive any more.
Grandpa will not wake up anymore.
12 pm: I return to a giant pile of wet laundry, which still has to be hung on the clothesline.
1am: I contacted the car dealer, that we still miss the offer for my old car. I guess we won't just get rid of it...
1.30 am: I collaped into the bed
