Portugal Workshop - Day 3
It was another bright and early dark and very early start this morning, we headed out at 5.30am to go to our location near Torreira to photograph the sunrise. Thankfully this morning that awful wind had died down so it was not so bitterly cold and we had a very colourful sunrise. There were a few places from which to photograph so we each picked a spot and did our thing. You can see the pink sunrise and the boats in the frame in the extras.
We only got back to the hotel at 9.30am so had a quick breakfast before it closed. We then had a a couple of hours to edit photos before meeting again to go out. We went to Costa Nova which is a little village known for its striped houses, where we wandered around taking photos of the beautiful houses. Then we drove into Aveiro, where we had a coffee and cake (I had some egg yolk and sugar treat that was gluten free) It is known for its ovos moles which is a yolk, sugar and pastry type of treat. We then photographed the blue hour getting some lovely reflections in the canals - this town is considered the Venice of Portugal due to the canals and gondola style boats that they use. This is where I took the image for my blip. I really did not know what to choose for my blip as I took so many photos today, hence all the extras.
The people in the group are all very nice - only 6 of us with 2 photographers. The local Portuguese photographer is so funny and had us in stitches last night as he tried to explain certain Portuguese words and phrases to us. It seems to be a language where words can sound very similar but have absolutely different meanings, very often having a naughty meaning when someone means something quite different! Google translate came up with some outrageous translations!
We got back after 7pm to the hotel, and we had a light supper in the bar before heading off to bed as we have another early start tomorrow. We are having very full days and I have not had time to comment on journals, it is just too busy. Thank you for all the hearts on my stormy seas image yesterday and continuing to look at my journal when I don't have time to comment.
In other news, Gavin and Xena went to watch Thomas play rugby today in Cambridge. Apparently it was a good match. Xena is doing very well and Gavin is impressed at how well trained she is becoming.
