Tardebigge Locks
After a bright sunny morning a thick fog had descended by lunchtime, so I was feeling a bit downcast as I set off on my lunch break. I had the car today so could go a bit further afield and I decided to head for Tardebigge Locks on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal east of Bromsgrove.
I timed it perfectly because just as I was arriving the fog lifted, the clouds parted and I had an hour's walking in glorious sunshine.
This flight of locks is the longest in the UK, consisting of a two and a quarter mile stretch of 30 locks which raise the canal 220 feet. I have been through the entire flight a couple of times on a narrowboat. It takes about six hours.
