Memories
A good journey down to Lyndhurst, I travelled this route hundreds of times, in sun, rain, wind and snow and this one was a good one! We have passed the Penny Farthing Hotel on every one of those journeys and today are staying here. It is basic but functional and only £60 with my genius points.
We walked through the village which was very busy. It has become even more touristy which we liked but Mum would not have! We then walked down to the house (pictured) which from the outside was exactly the same although we have heard they new residents have completely updated inside. So would I have done if I had been able to afford it! Back to the village to meet up with Dot over a coffee. Her health is not so good, but it was lovely to chat.
From there over to my brothers to see the house and go out to dinner. The restaurant we had booked for had a power cut so we went instead to the Snakecatcher. Their dog has anxiety and can’t be left alone (yes you read that right)! And so we have to go to dog friendly venues!
All in all a good day though tinged with sadness. If we could have afforded to buy out my brother and nephews when mum died I would have loved to have done so, but it was not to be!
